Automatic Fare Collection






The concept of Automatic Fare Collection is associated with “Kentkart” in Turkey and has become the most popular brand name in transportation cards all over Turkey.

Smart cards can be purchased and loaded by any kiosk locations in the city. Cards and reload transactions are secured in accordance with international security standards. The smart cards can be activated and used for repeatedly after the first reload transaction.

A single anonymous card can allow multiple boardings. Kentkart can charge normal fare tariffs to a student card or vice versa enabling transportation of a family with a single card.

If the card is lost, the passenger can go to the nearest Kentkart Customer Relations Office with an ID card and get a refund of the card balance.

The Automatic Fare Collection System is activated by pre-payment to the electronic chip stored in the smart card. Another important key element of the system is the Smart Card Reader (validator), which can be installed to all public transport vehicles like buses, metro, LRT, ferries, trams, trolleys, and metro buses. The pre-loaded smart cards with a sufficient fare amount can be presented at the validators to collect the fares from the credit stored in the electronic chip.

In addition to public transportation, Kentkart smart cards are also used at the entrance to exhibition centers and concert ticket offices. With the same card, citizens can make their transportation, municipality utility (gas, water, waste, etc.), parking, and shopping payments.

The large TFT LCD screen of smart card readers enables operators and city authorities to make audio and video announcements and to give celebratory announcements to the citizens.

With Kentkart’s extensive software system, distance based (Check-in/Check-out) or time based transfer fare tariff may also be implemented.

Kentkart not only saves its users’ time and money, but also ensures efficient fleet management and schedule planning, enabling operators to access passenger peak bus stop and hour reports easily. Kentkart System Reports Web Page is accessible only to system operation managers, allowing them to abstract and analyze reports of the profitable routes, and, by doing so, any necessary route arrangements can be done immediately.

In addition to the Automatic Fare Collection System for transport vehicles, Kentkart helps to gather all municipality revenue enterprises under a single umbrella.
